What is ‘Pitch Docudrama Series’?

It is an internactional call for projects intended for docudrama series projects, dealing with any type of topics from a documentary point of view, but whose narrative includes recreations of fictionalized facts (both in real image or animation), either long sequences with dialogue, or only images without dialogue or with limited sound that illustrate the facts narrated or the experience of witnesses or experts.

Purely serialized documentary projects that do not contain these elements and fictional series based on real events will be excluded from this category.

What does the ‘Pitch Docudrama Series’ offer?

5 finalist projects will be selected to present in Toledo, June 26-29, 2023.

In case of selection, you will have the opportunity to present your project in a presential pitching session in front of an audience of executives and potential industry partners at Conecta FICTION & ENTERTRAINMENT. In addition, you will have an exclusive space reserved for meetings.

Conecta FICTION & ENTERTRAINMENT will cover accreditation and accomodations cost, during 3 nights, from 26th to 29th of June 2023, for one participant of each Project selected.

 What are the requirements to participate in the call?

It is open to producers incorporated as legal entities, (not to talents without an associated production company)

  • Only projects of between 2 and 13 episodes may be submitted
  • There is no limitation on the length of the episodes
  • Your project shall be in a development phase
  • You can submit a maximum of 3 projects (on the first season)

What documents are required to participate in the call?

  • One page synopsis
  • Bible / dossier (characters, events portrayed, setting, tone, shooting locations, narrative resources used, summary of the season – 7 pages max.)
  • Letter describing writer and/or producer vision of the Project
  • Production Budget: (in euros): form available here
  • Financial plan (in euros): form available here
  • Company corporate documentation: tax number, registration document
  • In the case of a project based on a pre-existing non-fiction work, a signed and dated contract must be attached, showing the transfer of rights to the production company for the adaptation into a television series.

In addition, the following documents (not mandatory) may be submitted:

  • Dated and signed contracts or letters of commitment or interest evidencing the financial investment indicated on your registration form. These contracts or letters must indicate the amount of the investment. It is recommended that the projects have a minimum of 10% already financed or committed.
  • Script(s), if available
  • Visual materials (trailer or other videos of the Project), if available

How are projects selected?

We will put your project in the hands of the Pitch Docudrama Series Editorial Committee (to be confirmed shortly), composed of a team of international professionals with different areas of expertise within the industry.

The Editorial Committee will evaluate all the projects received and will select the 10 finalists, based on criteria such as artistic quality, uniqueness of the content, state of development, budget, international potential, among others.

The finalists will be announced in May.

How and when can projects be submitted?

You have until 4th of April 2023 to send us your Project, remember that the submission of your project has to be through the website, we will not receive any request by email.

  • Log in
  • Enter this page and click on the ‘Submit a projectbutton at the bottom of the page. This will open a form that must be filled in with all the project data.
  • No accreditation is required to submit a project.
  • Project registration is free of charge.
  • The same project cannot be presented tp other Pitching sessions.
